September 2024 Actron Entities, Inc. Under New Ownership

Kirtland Capital Partners recapitalized Actron Entities, Inc. in August 2024 in a partnership with tenured senior management, John Staszewski, now CEO and Alana Dergham, now CFO, who also invested in the transaction and have equity interest in the company. Actron’s core engineering & manufacturing services will continue to be the focus for the business. Meaningfully investments are planned for supporting growth. The company plans to add complementary, state of the art capabilities that enhance the ability to meet the demanding technical requirements of customer applications.

August 2024 – Environmental Update

Actron Entities, Inc. has relocated its spray application paint booth, processes and activities from the 13089 60th Street campus to the 13173 60th Street campus location. The painting process typically follows the chemical conversion coating (Chem Film) process on aluminum and aluminum alloys. These are regular services offered by Actron Entities.

New Hire – Quality Assurance Manager

We are pleased to introduce a new member onto our staff. Tony Schmaltz is joining us as a Quality Assurance Manager and will be overseeing the quality department.

Tony comes to us with 23 years of Quality Assurance experience with 20 of those years being specifically in the Aerospace industry. He and his teams were some of the forerunners in getting their organizations AS9100 and NADCAP approved when the Aerospace Industry first required it back in 2003. We were excited to learn about the motto that he uses, “People First, Customer Always”, since he fully believes that when you put your people first, they will always take care of the customers.

He has dedicated a large portion of his career to becoming a better leader and team player through personal and professional development, including many classes, programs, mentors, coaches or similar. Developing the people around him to be ready for the next level of their careers is a huge passion of his, with many team member advancements under his belt.

His vast knowledge of metal finishing and machining allow him to jump right in with our team. He spent 14 years developing or improving systems for Chem Film, Anodize, Plating, Masking, Painting, Powder Coating and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Then he spent close to 5 years leading the Quality Group at a Design and Manufacturing organization that specializes in precision machining and assembly. We believe that he brings the knowledge and experience necessary for the future success of the Quality Department and Actron.

We are excited to have Tony as part of the Actron team as we grow and keep implementing continuous improvements throughout our shop.

CLEARWATER, FL – Precision fab shop, Actron Engineering has seen their customer base evolve over the years, with a shift from commercial jobs to defense work. As this shift occurred, their customers wanted a shop that could provide a complete solution, which includes fabrication, welding, machining, and finishing capabilities.

CLEARWATER, FL – Actron Engineering machines aluminum at very high RPMs, which atomizes the coolant, thus creating a mist problem inside their machining centers. Out of concern for their employee’s health and safety, they recently began to add Haas Enclosure Exhaust Systems to each machining center. According to owner, Doug Herman, this has worked extremely well, and has solved the mist problem.

Actron Continues to Expand

Started well before the current Covid 19 crisis, Actron has completed its new 8000 SQ FT expansion to increase our capacity for large machining capabilities. This fully air-conditioned and renovated facility is now open and features such machines as our HAAS VF-11, VF-9, (2) VF-6 SS’s, our large horizontal HAAS, EC-1600 ZT, our 5-Axis UMC 750, and a VF-4 4-axis. We also have a brand new quality lab with a high precision FARO arm measuring device capable of taking on the larger parts. Actron Entities, Inc., a leading manufacturer of precision machined and fabricated components and assemblies, is pleased to announce the following promotions:

John Staszewski has been promoted to the position of President and is responsible for manufacturing operations, sales, and customer relations. John has been with Actron since 2016 and previously held the position of Vice President and General Manager.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alana Dergham has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President and is responsible for all administration, accounting, material control, information technology, and human resources. Alana has been with Actron since 2014 and previously held the positions of IT Manager, Controller, and Vice President of Administration.

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to both John and Alana in their new roles as they lead Actron into the next decade.

TAMPA BAY WORKS – TAMPA BAY PARTNERSHIP

Actron has been actively working as one of about 25 manufacturing companies in the Tampa Bay Region to develop a workforce training system through the TPM (Talent Pipeline Management) methodology developed by the US Chamber of Commerce. The intent is to foster interest in manufacturing and then to have a fast track approach to developing entry level technicians that have the aptitude to eventually advance in the organizations to higher level skilled positions. This approach is not industry sensitive, but was developed by a cross section of manufacturers that have a need to fill entry level jobs and begin internal training programs designed to replace exiting experienced employees. Because of Actron’s geographic location, we have the opportunity to sponsor and be directly involved in the first manufacturing boot camp event to be held in central Pinellas County. The training will be provided by AMSkills working with Tampa Bay Works and will serve as a pilot program for similar events throughout the region. We encourage anyone who is looking for a career in manufacturing to explore this boot camp opportunity that has the potential to provide a meaningful career in manufacturing.

 

FDCA Procurement Conference

Actron participated in the 7th annual FDCA procurement Conference, held in Orlando, FL February 11 and 12, 2019. In addition to many opportunities to meet with fellow FDCA members and corporate sponsors such as General Dynamics, Embraer, Northrup Grumman, and Lockheed, we also were privileged to hear from a distinguished panel of experts and congressional delegates about the current and future of defense spending and procurement practices. This panel consisted of such notable congressmen/women as the honorable(s) Mario Diaz-Balart and Debbie Wasserman Schultz with distinguished speakers such as Captain Timothy Hill, Anthony Principi, Bruce Grant, and Chris Harrington. Following the speeches and presentations, the small business/large prime match making sessions were held, giving small business the opportunity to learn who to contact and what steps are necessary to do business with various prime contractors.

Additional Facilities @ Actron!!!

Actron is very pleased to announce that we have successfully purchased an additional 8000 square feet of manufacturing space directly across the street from our main facility. Formerly belonging to Actron Precision, we are re-united with this building that will become our machining building once the current tenants get relocated to another facility. This additional space brings Actron to 38,500 square feet total and gets us some room we desperately need for additional machining and assembly capacity. We do not get occupancy until the end of the year, but the plans remain the same:

  • Move the U44 laser out of the north building (scheduled for early June) into the main building next to the new fiber laser.
  • Convert the north building into a top-quality paint shop and powder coat facility
  • Relocate the current machine shop to the former Actron Precision facility across the street
  • Establish a precision assembly operation in the existing machine shop facility (south building)

These are a lot of ambitious plans, but they are all required to continue on with our lean journey and support our ever-more sophisticated manufacturing requirements as we continue to grow into new markets and capabilities.
